Use in place of cocoa powder in your favorite recipes for delicious natural chocolate flavor without the fat, caffeine or theobromine found in chocolate. Carob isn't as rich as chocolate but it's actually sweeter. When cooking with Carob substitute 1.5 to 2 parts Carob Powder for every 1 part cocoa powder called for in a recipe. Due to Carob Powder's sweetness you may need to decrease the amount of sugar used.

Fair Substitute for Cocoa Powder
Fair Substitute for Cocoa Powder
Substitute for cocoa in chocolate cake. Use a full cup for a 2-layer cake if you want that sinfully-rich effect. However, be prepared to really play with a classic cake recipe to get a chocolatey flavor. Use less sugar, because carob is sweeter than cocoa. Add acidity and bitterness, because believe it or not, part of what chocoholics love about chocolate is that it has very complex components like that. I add sour cream and a tablespoon of instant coffee, then blend super-well. Remember, you can always use decaffeinated coffee.

Perfect chocolate flavour!

Im so disappointed! People raved about this and they even said that it was cacao substitute (sort of). I hate the smell and the taste. It smells like something burned ... awful. I don't like it at all and don't know what to do with it.

This is actually the only carob I have used but I really like this stuff. It tastes better than cocoa actually, and what I usually use it for is making coconut oil chocolate, by mixing some crushed nuts, coconut oil, carob, cocoa and some stevia together and putting it in the freezer for at least 20 minutes. Instant chocolate which tastes amazing! The carob is an essential part, because of it's sweet flavor.
its ok (Dont expect for it to taste like chocolate though)

it came on a puach bag with a zipper that does not work wich is a problem cause every time I grab it some powder goes off. The quality is good and the taste fine. Chocolate lover: Dont expect for it to taste like chocolate really... I prefer cacao powder a million times, but this is a good healthy caffeine free option for smoothies. Does the trick
